Crossover speaks…

A few folk involved with Crossover were interviewed for Central FM’s Sunday Reflections programme on the 9th of March. The interviewer was Matt Boyle.

Your Crossover webmaster has all manner of links to just the right people and was able to obtain a copy of the interviews. They are presented here for for listening pleasure.

First up is Alan Hunter, the Crossover Management Group chairman. He gives a bit of background on what Crossover is all about:

Stuart Arnott is in charge (or so he tells us) of the Activities Team. The team put together an excellent range of events and activities for the weekend but it doesn’t just happen. There’s a lot of work involved and Stuart gives us an insight into that:

Last, but by no means least, is Richard Marshall who is part of Stuart’s hard-working team. Richard offers us some personal reflections on what Crossover means to him:

A wee teaser…

The activities team have, as usual, come up with some pretty wacky ideas for Crossover 2008. As it’s Crossover number 10, it’s party time and they’ve decided that they’ll be playing some mad party games for the team challenge this year. So, it’s time to get dressed up (your choice of fancy dress and prizes for the winners as usual) and join in the fun.

It’s a Knockout will be happening on Saturday evening this year and they’re hoping to accommodate twice as many teams this time. They’re also hoping to make use of the inflatables too, so it’s bound to be a manic, bouncy time. There are two team places reserved for Saturday day visitors this year, but remember to book in early.

Don’t forget to sign up on Friday evening for the team events!

They’ve also lined up a few new activities including circus skills, hip-hop dance workshops and, for those who like to make a lot of noise, there’s a trash band. Hopefully that doesn’t mean you’ll sound like rubbish, but it’s about making sweet music with all sorts of things.

There’s plenty more lined up - lots of old favourites and some new challenges from the Broomlee staff as well.

Keep checking back for more teasers.

Crossover 2008 Update

The Crossover Management Group met this evening and thrashed out some plans for this year’s festival. Up until tonight it was touch-and-go whether it was actually going to happen but now it’s all systems go for the 13th to 15th June 2008 and the 10th Crossover event.

We’ll be having a special birthday bash all weekend and you’re invited to the party. Get ready for some familiar friends and some fabulous new activities. We’d love to see you all there, so get pestering your youth leader or start enthusing your youths and make a date to be at Crossover this year.

Information packs will be available to download in a day or so and, to keep our paper waste to a minimum, we’ll have a publicity poster available to download in about a week. That way, only the ones that are needed will be printed. There will also be email-shots going out from different agencies over the next few weeks. But that also means that if you’re reading this, you’ll need to let everyone know about Crossover.

Do keep checking back here for more updates and teasers.

Crossover 2008

Just in case you haven’t spotted the banner, the dates for Crossover 2008 have now been announced. Crossover will be happening on the 13th-15th of June 2008. Once again we’ll be returning to the Broomlee Centre in West Linton. That means accommodation is limited, so if you really don’t like camping, be sure to be ready to book early. Costs are being finalised now and prices for 2008 will be released very soon.
Crossover 2008 will be the 10th Crossover so, surprise, surprise, the theme for 2008 is ‘10′, or rather, ‘X’ (think Roman numerals) and we hope to have a great ‘10th Crossover’ party all weekend.

Activities planning is at an early stage but there are one or two things in the pipeline that sound especially exciting. More information will be teased as I get it.

So, start pestering your youth club or youth leaders now and make plans to be at the 10th Crossover’s party in 2008. Keep an eye on the website for updates and look out for ways to get involved with making Crossover 2008 the best Crossover ever.
